Developmental Milestone Assessment

A developmental milestone assessment checks whether a child is achieving age‑appropriate skills in areas like gross motor, fine motor, language, cognitive, and social‑emotional development, to ensure healthy growth.

Regular milestone assessments help detect early signs of delays in speech, motor skills, or social interaction so that timely support or intervention can be provided if needed.

Milestone checks are part of routine well‑baby and child visits (e.g., at 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, and 24 months and beyond). Your pediatrician may recommend more frequent checks if there are specific concerns.

It’s common for children to develop at slightly different rates. However, if delays are noticeable or persistent, your pediatrician can recommend further evaluation or appropriate therapies. Early discussion with your doctor is helpful.

Milestone assessments can highlight red flags or early signs of conditions such as autism spectrum disorder or speech delays, allowing for early referrals and intervention when necessary.
